Nick Guzman has been a music lover since early childhood. With music in his soul and an ear for sound he quickly discovered The Beatles, Crosby, Still, Nash and Young, The Monkees, Paul Simon and Cat Stevens, as well as most 60s rock music. He began spending his early days playing an old piano that had been stored in the garage. We soon began to hear actual tunes wailing from the garage into the house. It was then when we realized, it was time to get him piano lessons! His dad began to teach him guitar and he started formal music lessons at age 11.
Music has been Nick's crossover from days filled with frustration and insecurity to self-acceptance through his love of performing. It has been a gift that helps him continue to grow.
While in school Nick would often be found singing in the quad during lunchtime. He often sang for the classrooms during the holiday season and he sang in choir most of his high school years. Nick loves to write his own songs on Garage Band and creates Anime tunes as well. He has taken Jazz Choir with The Vocal Flight ensemble at De Anza College in Cupertino California.
In 2006 when Joey Travolta came to San Jose, CA to teach his film camps, Nick was noticed for his musical talent. Soon after came TV and radio interviews and opportunities for him to perform.
In 2008 Joey Travolta and his music composer friend, Jeff Lass, co-wrote a song for Nick called "Since We're Friends". The filming of that music session was then added to a film called ARTS, Disabilities, Possibilities and the Arts, directed by Keri Bowers which includes Geri Jewel from Facts of Life, Temple Grandin, a doctor of Animal Science and a author, Donna Williams, a best-selling author, artist, singer-songwriter, screenwriter and sculptor, Taylor Cross, Autism speaker and filmmaker, as well as Joanne Lara, Autism Movement Therapy.
This year Nick has performed for most of the premieres for the film ARTS. He has also performed for The Friendship Circle in West Lake Village, CA his song "Since We're Friends" accompanied by composer Jeff Lass.
Most recently he performed for Great America's Autism Awareness Day in San Jose, CA and he volunteered for a fundraiser in Marina Del Rey in October, for Julian Sheller, a young boy with autism who had a lengthy stay in the hospital. The event was called, "A Little Help from my Friends," and the money raised helped Julian's family. He also appeared at the Canyon Club in Agora Hills for the "Autism Sings" event put on by Joanne Lara and Keri Bowers.
